In my environment, I created an install package in which the “client install settings” was set to “Show Progress Bar”, because I wanted the Symantec installation routine to be visible at its beginning on my KACE client computers while it was installing.exe file in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager for use for KACE 1000 Deployment'. For instructions how to do that, consult the Symantec Administrator Manual or see my posted Deployment Tip 'How to create an. Create that package as a single '.exe' file. From the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM), use the Client Deployment Wizard to create an installation package that you save to a network location that can be accessed by the KACE 1000.Even so, there is a way around the KACE limitation that I will explain in the last step. Dell KACE’s limitation is that the software inventory is unable to distinguish between a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of the exact same software title and version. The Windows 64-bit OS must have a Windows 64-bit SEP install file. Symantec's limitation is that a Windows 32-bit SEP install file cannot be installed on a Windows 64-bit OS. This limitation is due to limitations with both the Symantec product and the Dell KACE product. There is one limitation: you can use KACE 1000 to deploy either a 32-bit OR a 64-bit installation package at any one time, but cannot deploy both concurrently. I did this with my KACE 1000 and it worked very well. However, for the clients that use a version between Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU5 and 12.1 RU6 MP 3, some functionality may be limited depending upon the version of the client.Even though Symantec does not support a command line install of the Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 client, using the default Symantec installation files, there is a way around that limitation if you want to deploy the SEP. ATP manages the clients that use Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU 6 MP3 or later with full EDR 1.0 functionality. See About endpoint detection and response (EDR) Table: Supported SEP 12.x versions by feature Feature Prior versions use EDR 1.0 functionality. However, only endpoints that run Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.0 RU1 and later can take advantage of endpoint searches using EDR 2.0 functionality. ¹ ATP supports endpoint searches on endpoints running Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.0 and above.

Installing Windows on an external drive would be a great solution to the problem of available space, but as we said, Boot Camp and Windows impose a restriction on installing to an external drive. While Boot Camp Assistant can partition your startup drive for you to make room for Windows, there are bound to be many of you who just don’t have room to spare on your startup drive to install Windows. One of the downsides to Boot Camp and the Windows installer is that it restricts you to only installing Windows on your Mac’s internal drive. It’s a nice capability that lets you select – at boot time – which operating system you wish to use: macOS or Windows. Boot Camp and Boot Camp Assistant allow you to install Windows on your Mac.
